B&M Care celebrates CQC Outstanding care home hat-trick

St Lukes care home in Caversham, Berkshire has become the third B&M Care home to achieve CQC Outstanding.

The service, which was inspected in June, followed B&M’s Tremona and White Plains care homes, which celebrated the same achievement in March and June, respectively.

Home Manager Kim Franks said: “We are incredibly proud of achieving Outstanding. This is our residents’ home and we work hard to ensure that it is the best it can possibly be through delivering person-centred care within a highly-personable environment by a skilled and committed staff team.

“This achievement would not have been possible without each and every one of the staff team who share a vision and are dedicated to delivering high standards and continuous improvement.”

The CQC found the home was led by a dynamic, committed and highly knowledgeable management team who promoted a good quality of life through exceptional implementation of care, treatment and support.

Inspectors commended the service for involving residents in its refurbishment and praised the home’s use of the Rose Model of Dementia Care observational tool, which focuses on holistic care of the individual.

The home’s manager was praised for her dynamic vision that inspired staff to engage with multiple projects and ideas, such as environmental improvements, activities provision and a falls prevention initiative.

St Lukes outward facing ties with the local community were also highlighted by inspectors, including a placement scheme that offered students further insight into a care home environment to address negative publicity shown in the media.
