New ‘state-of-the-art’ care home coming to Fulham

The Grade II listed Castle Club in Fulham is being developed into a luxury care home by a leading property development company.

The Thackeray Estate has revealed its plans to redevelop the historic Castle Club into a care home that will make use of the existing gothic style structure while also adding a three-storey glazed extension.

The new care home will include 33 bedrooms alongside, modern facilities helping to provide the best environment for the elderly.

Planning permission has been granted to develop the building, with Thackeray noting that care homes in the city centre often sit in bland developments with historic buildings usually reserved for residential properties.

The Castle Club property sits near Hurlingham Park allowing residents to make use of the local green spaces.

Charles Thompson, director of The Thackeray Estate, said: “We believe it is right that a site that has been feature of the area for decades will once again be used to benefit the community, offering a wonderful place for people in need of care to enjoy in later life.

“There is a clear lack of high-quality care homes in desirable locations, with most modern facilities being located in characterless developments out of town, and so we are excited to be able to use our expertise and bring this wonderful building back to its former glory and for beneficial use.”
