Care sector vacancies and salaries rise in May

Job vacancies in the care sector reached a four-month high in May with salaries also on the rise, according to the latest data from recruitment specialist, CV-Library.

Advertised vacancies rose 2.8% in the month placing the sector in the top 10 for job growth, with salaries also up by 1% year on year.

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “It’s clear from the data that care organisations are ramping up their recruitment efforts as we approach the summer months. And given the ongoing uncertainty in the UK right now, this is great to see. If you’re currently on the job hunt, there are a huge number of exciting job opportunities in the industry. On the downside, application rates in the care sector dropped by 7.8% when compared with data from the previous month. CV-Library said this suggested many professionals in the industry were feeling cautious and were waiting for the right time to make their next career move.

Lee added: “It’s not surprising to learn that candidate applications saw a slight drop last month, as many of us will likely have been more concerned with getting out and enjoying the sunshine while it’s there. Especially coupled with the recent flurry of bank holidays that have kept us out of the office. But if you’re ready to take the next step in your career – don’t wait!
