Innovative dementia care home gains Outstanding

A Devon home offering innovative dementia care has been rated Outstanding.

Evolve Care Group’s Sundial Care Home in Sidmouth joined the top 2% of adult care services rated Outstanding following an inspection in June.

The CQC said: “People received outstanding care and were supported to have the best quality of life possible.”

Evolve Care has invested more than £1m in researching, developing and implementing its own model of care for people living with dementia over the past two years.

The research included examining best practice in Australia and the US.

CEO Preyen Dewani, a previous National Care Entrepreneur of the year winner, said: “We are passionate about providing the best experiences, every day for every person who chooses to live or work with us.

“Our family of dedicated practitioners strive hard to improve the daily lives of others. We are delighted that CQC have recognised our efforts and results.”

The home ended the use of traditional uniforms after research found they had a detrimental impact on people living with dementia.

Family members have the option of personalising rooms with the aid of an interior designer.

Evolve Care Group is planning to serve the expanding numbers of people living with dementia by expanding its current portfolio of 12 nursing homes and care villages with a £75m growth strategy. It is currently on the lookout for new acquisition and development opportunities.
