Lambeth care home celebrates CQC outstanding rating

Fairlie House in West Norwood, London has been rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC following an inspection in September.

The home, which provides nursing and residential care for up to 45 people, joined the top 3% of adult social care services with the CQC’s top rating following an inspection in September.

Rachel Metzger, Senior Deputy Home Manager, said: “Achieving an outstanding rating demonstrates how our service uses our core values (privacy, dignity, choice, independence, rights, fulfilment) to drive person centred quality care given to our residents who make Fairlie House their home.

“We are very proud to be recognised by the CQC as an outstanding care home in Lambeth. We are also delighted to be awarded the Quality Hallmark Award at Platinum status, which recognises the sustained practice to maintain GSF in your home. As a team we strive for excellence.”

The CQC praised Fairlie House, which is run by Fairlie Healthcare Limited, for its “exceptionally responsive” approach and the provision of individually developed person centred care and therapy plans that reflected people’s needs.

“People were encouraged to choose manageable goals which improved their lives,” the CQC said.

“The staff team worked collaboratively in partnership with a range of organisations to improve people’s life experience. People’s quality of life was enhanced by assistive technology, and the stimulation and activities provided in conjunction with the therapy team.”

The CQC added that while service users felt no need to make a complaint, any issues were promptly dealt with, with effective processes in place.

Fairlie House was also praised for its strong values framework that underpinned its approach to person centred care, with staff receiving training and support on how to put this into practice.
