Care home and manager part ways following video scandal

The manager of a Lincoln care home being investigated by police has left her role.

Tina Bardsley was previously suspended in January following the emergence of two videos appearing to show an elderly man being mocked by a woman at the Cathedral Care Centre (see Care home manager suspended over video scandal).

Dermott Kelly, chief executive of the home’s operator St Philips Care, told The Lincolnite: “We commenced the disciplinary process and as of January 22 Tina Bardsley no longer works for us.

“From our perspective we are bringing the matter to a close and we will be bringing in a new manager.

“We took over the business from the former provider and this happened under the previous owner. It is not a reflection of our care.”

The two videos, which are believed to have been filmed in May 2018, appear to show a woman asking an elderly man if he had gay tendencies and threatening to take away his walking stick and put him in a frilly dress.

The emergence of the videos led to an investigation by Lincolnshire Police which is ongoing.

A CQC inspection, which was carried out following an allegation of abuse of an individual at the home, is awaiting publication.
