Buckinghamshire nursing home hits the heights with second ‘outstanding’

The Heights nursing home in High Wycombe, which is run by local care provider and charity, The Fremantle Trust, has maintained its ‘outstanding’ rating following an inspection by the CQC in November.

The home, which provides nursing and residential care for up to 90 adults, including older people with a range of needs including dementia, and younger adults with a physical or learning disability,  was previously rated outstanding by the CQC following an inspection in January 2016.

Home manager, Blesson Thomas, said: “We are incredibly proud to have maintained an outstanding rating, given the level of scrutiny involved in the inspection, and remain absolutely focused on providing the best possible experience for residents, families and employees here at The Heights.”

Chief executive of The Fremantle Trust, Sara Livadeas, added: “This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the dedication of Blesson and all the team at The Heights who ensure the people they care for remain at the heart of everything they do.”

Inspectors praised employees, describing them as “highly skilled, dedicated and passionate” who “treated people as individuals, celebrated their life histories and enabled them to access meaningful experiences”.

The care provided was recognised as truly person-centred, underpinned by an intention to ensure residents enjoy life enhancing experiences.

Blesson was once again upheld as an exemplary leader who consistently goes above and beyond to motivate the team, with a commitment to continuous development and a keen eye for detail.

Lin Hazell, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said:  “It is great to see The Heights maintain its outstanding CQC rating and continue to provide such high quality care for its residents. We would like to thank the staff for their ongoing hard work and dedication and offer our sincere congratulations for this impressive achievement.”
