Orbis calls to recruit 30 people for new Gloucestershire care service

Orbis Education and Care, a leading UK care provider, is looking to recruit 30 members of staff for its new home care service and special education school in Gloucestershire.

Abbey Rose in Tewkesbury will provide home services and special education to 30 children who have complex needs associated with autism, when it opens in March.

Orbis will be reviving the 17-acre site, formerly known as Southwick Park, after it was closed in April 2018 by previous owners, the Cambian Group.

The company plans to train locals with an interest in the field of special needs in a bid to help raise awareness of issues around the holistic care and education of individuals with autism.

More than 30 support workers and team leaders will be hired in the first phase of recruitment, with opportunities for all involved to study towards a Health and Social Care Diploma.

Overall, around 300 jobs will be created at the site, with additional teaching, clinical, housekeeping, administration and other support roles set to be created when the facility is at capacity.

Stephen Colley, head of care at Abbey Rose, said: “Most people involved in the education and care of individuals with complex learning needs see providing much-needed quality of life to those affected, as well to their families, as not just a profession but as a vocation.

“That’s the way we feel about our work at Orbis Education and Care and we’re looking forward to welcoming like-minded people into our team at Orbis Abbey Rose in the coming months.”

Orbis Education and Care runs 15 schools, residential homes and facilities for children and adults in England and Wales, which support people with complex needs associated with autism. The company now employs around 580 people.
