Staff and residents at Badgers Holt Care Home in Hampshire are celebrating after the service received its second CQC ‘outstanding’ rating.

The home, which provides personal and nursing care for 25 elderly people, joined the top 3.5% of adult social care services following an inspection in February.

Home owner Mrs T Rayner said: “This award is a reflection of the commitment and care given by all the staff at Badgers Holt, and I am very proud that we have retained our outstanding rating.

“Badgers Holt would like to acknowledge the fantastic support that we get from the local GP surgeries and district nurses; their close involvement with Badgers Holt is invaluable.”

The CQC commented: “People felt safe living at Badgers Holt and they were very much at the heart of the service. We received consistent positive feedback from people, their relatives and health professionals. People received excellent care that was based around their individual needs and that ensured care was personalised and responsive.”

The inspectors highlighted how the home promoted community involvement in the service, including the support of new students at a local college in gaining care experience.

Recognition from the CQC came after Badgers Holt received the Blue Rose Award from Hampshire Care Association for being an outstanding home in the area and for its contribution to promoting good practice in the sector.

Mrs Rayner added: “These awards have demonstrated that the care provided is outstanding and consistent, but we won’t stop at that, we will continue to keep improving the care of our service users.”

Badgers Holt’s team is also working with the GR Care Consultancy Ltd and NHS to support hospital admittance and discharge.

Mrs Rayner said: “It is vital that we continue to provide a service which is tailored to each service user to ensure that each individual lives a full and happy life.”
