Anchor care home celebrates second CQC ‘outstanding’

West Hall care home in West Byfleet, Surrey has been given its second CQC ‘outstanding’ rating.

The 104-bed home, which is run by Anchor, part of Anchor Hanover, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of care and housing for older people, increased its number of outstanding KLOEs from two to three following an inspection in April.

Manager Tracy Manzi (pictured second left with residents Betty Gill and John Ryan and housekeeper Tricia Green), who was praised for her outstanding leadership, said: “We all know West Hall is a great place for older people to live but to further improve on our outstanding rating is such a rare achievement.

“We are proud of the care we provide, of the meals which are made from fresh seasonal ingredients and of the wide variety of meaningful activities enjoyed by our residents.

“We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes or retirement properties are the best in the country.”

West Hall is one of eight Anchor care homes to have received the CQC’s top rating, meaning 7.3% of its services are outstanding.

Deborah Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, said: “It is wonderful to see that people living at West Hall were continuing to receive exceptional care with services developed and tailored to their needs and at the same time promoting independence and engagement with the community.”

The CQC praised staff efforts to engage with the local community and external services. Residents and relatives highlighted the home’s understanding of cultural diversity, including the LGBT community.

Staff at the home were also recognised for going the extra mile in responding to people’s needs and preference, with one running with a resident and another supporting another to do their shopping.
