Sussex Health Care’s (SHC) Kingsmead Lodge in Horsham has been rated ‘inadequate’ by the CQC for the fourth time.
The home, which provides care for people with learning disabilities, has been in ‘special measures’ since September 2018.
The CQC said: “Kingsmead Lodge requires further development to be able to deliver support for people that is consistent with the values that underpin ‘Registering the Right Support (RRS). For example, care planning processes did not always consider people’s personal information and how these informed their individual support needs and wishes.
“Risks to people were not always assessed, monitored and managed safely. This included risks associated with people’s behaviours that may challenge, skin integrity, postural, mobility, choking and health monitoring support needs.”
SHC is the subject of an ongoing police investigation into the death of 13 residents. Sussex Police said last month that 15 people had been interviewed as part of the probe (see Fifteen interviewed in police probe into Sussex Health Care).
An SHC spokesperson said: “We are extremely disappointed with the findings from the CQC’s latest report. We are committed to delivering the highest quality care and support for all our residents and have taken the findings on board. A new manager is in place and is focused on enhancing the service we provide to residents and their families.”
