Administrators called in at Bristol care home

Administrators have been appointed at a Bristol care home that fell into operational and working capital difficulties after building an extension.

Mark Boughey and Adrian Allen of RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP were appointed joint administrators of Woodlands Manor Care Home in Kendleshire on November 15.

Mark said: “We are working hard to stabilise the care home’s operations and maintain its going concern position. We are working closely with the Care Quality Commission, the local authority, the residents and their families. We hope to secure the long-term future of the home through a sale in the coming months.

“We would welcome any interested parties coming forward who may have an interest in acquiring the facility.”

While the home’s extension is near completion, the administrators said there had been delays with the project. They said their appointment should enable the building to be completed.

The administrators added they were working with staff to maintain the continuity of service to the home’s 30 residents.

The home was rated ‘requires improvement’ by the CQC following its last inspection in January 2018.

Nicky Nendick, Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care in the South West, told CHP: “After a recent inspection CQC were made aware that on 15 November 2018 Woodlands Manor Care Home entered administration.

“The administrators have provided reassurance that people were safe and they were in the process of speaking with all staff and relatives about the situation. CQC have been in contact with South Gloucestershire Council about this situation and will continue communication over the coming weeks to ensure that people remain safe.  CQC have also written to the administrators to ask about their intentions and future plans for the service.”

A South Gloucestershire spokesperson added: “We are aware of the situation and are actively working with the administrators and staff at the home to ensure that the care and support needs of the residents are met during this time.”

Woodlands Manor declined to comment when contacted by CHP.
