Anchor has become the care home provider with the most CQC ‘outstanding’ ratings after notching up its eighth top rating.
Abbeywood care home in Aldershot has followed hard on the heels of Birkenhead Court and Dawson Lodge in joining the top 3% of adult social care services in the country.
Care Home Manager Jamila Towfiq-Faerber said: “The residents and their families regularly tell us Abbeywood is a great place for older people to live but to be given such praise from the regulator is outstanding.

“This has been an entire team effort. Everyone’s passion, commitment, and sheer hard graft have been instrumental in the achievements and differences we make to our residents’ lives every day.
“I am extremely proud to be a part of such a fantastic team who have created a homely atmosphere for our residents. Abbeywood is a home where residents want to live and where staff enjoy coming to work so they can develop as people and enhance our residents’ lives daily.
“We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes are the best in the country.”
Alongside providing top quality care, the home was commended for its pets’ policy which allows residents to bring their pet with them when they move into the home. The home also has its own cats, Laurel and Hardy, two rabbits and two turtles.
Abbeywood’s activities were also praised, including its You’re Never Too Old campaign where staff try to realise people’s dreams, which included staff taking two residents to Paris and taking other residents ice-skating in their wheelchairs.
Frank Roberts, 86, who has lived at Abbeywood for four years, said: “I feel proud the home has received such a wonderful accolade. It is well deserved.
“Anchor’s Abbeywood has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are helpful and kind. They are a friendly and happy bunch who help create a good atmosphere.”
