Luxury retirement village operator Audley Group has appointed Nick Edwards as its chief operating officer.
Nick will take up the role in December and will be the first person to hold this newly created post, reporting to Audley Group CEO Nick Sanderson.
He has been a non-executive director of the group for the past five years during his time as chief financial officer at Moorfield Group, a private equity estate fund manager, and will now sit on the Board as executive director.
Audley Group said the appointment signals the scale of intent of the business as it prepares for a sustained phase of accelerated growth.
CEO Nick Sanderson said: “Nick knows Audley as well as anybody and understands intimately what we are trying to achieve, immediately and in the longer term. His sector specialism, combined with his experience of working with large institutions, means he is the ideal person to help us grow and capitalise upon the significant opportunity that exists.
“This appointment signifies Audley Group is entering a new phase; Nick will be instrumental in ensuring it is a successful one.”
Audley Group has a portfolio of 20 villages across the Audley Villages and Mayfield Villages brands. These communities offer luxury homes, leisure facilities and onsite care when required.
The business has also recently formed a joint venture with the real estate arm of Schroders and Octopus Real Estate to fund a £400m, 500-unit development of four retirement villages.
Nicks’ role will in part see him continue to create structures such as this to help grow the business in the UK and beyond.
He said: “I’ve admired the progress Nick and the team have made for many years, and this move reflects my belief that the greatest achievements for Audley are yet to come.
“I am excited to join what I know is a business that will change the face of retirement living forever, in the UK and beyond.”
