Barchester Healthcare is celebrating after receiving a Healthcare Services Industry Sector award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its contribution to occupational health and safety in the healthcare sector.
The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievements in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Dr Pete Calveley, CEO at Barchester Healthcare said: “The safety of our residents, patients and staff is always our first consideration and so we are especially proud that our work in this area is recognised by RoSPA. This outcome could not have been achieved without the support of our brilliant managers and staff, including our health and safety champions, and without the guidance of Paul Mason and his dedicated team Lisa Harris, Andy Hollingshead and Fiona Torrie. We’re very proud to be the safest care home provider in the sector.”
Entrants who demonstrated a consistently excellent and continuously improving performance were asked to present evidence of a particular initiative or innovative approach that would justify their selection as ‘best in sector’.
Barchester presented its A-Z of Health and Safety guide; a quick-to-find reference guide enabling staff and managers within care homes and hospitals to find answers to most common safety issues. Barchester’s Health and Safety team also evidenced their workshops and engagement with their Health and Safety Champions.
