Belong Warrington has achieved Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation for its end of life care.

The Belong village was awarded the Quality Hallmark Award by GSF for demonstrating excellence in  care standards and showcasing evidence based best practice in end of life and palliative care.

Janine Curwell, general manager at Belong Warrington, said: “We are absolutely delighted to attain the GSF Quality Hallmark Award. It’s an indicator to anyone who may require end of life care that they can count on our procedures to make what can be a very difficult time, easier and more comfortable for them, and for their families. Thanks should go to all the staff for their sustained commitment to maintaining the standards that have resulted in this recognition.”

Inspectors observed that end-of-life care plans were tailored to individual needs, and there was also endorsement of the use of technology to improve standards of care, including the introduction of handheld computers for record keeping, which enable staff to spend more time with residents.

The National GSF Centre in End of Life Care is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise Community Interest Company providing training and support to enable frontline staff to provide the highest standards of care. GSF improves the quality, coordination and organisation of care, leading to better patient outcomes in line with their needs and preferences.

Staff from Belong Warrington will receive their accreditation at an awards ceremony on 28 September at the Ambassadors Hotel, Bloomsbury, London.
