Dementia care village operator Belong has appointed Claire Mallon as its second Admiral Nurse.
The move, which is part on an ongoing partnership with Dementia UK, enhances Belong’s dementia care provision as it continues to increase its village portfolio.
Claire, who lives in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, will support Belong residents and customers at villages in Atherton, Wigan, Didsbury and Macclesfield and in the surrounding communities, along with their family members and carers. She will also advise Belong staff on best practice for caring for people living with dementia.

Graduating from the University of the West of Scotland in 2001 with a diploma in Mental Health Nursing, Claire has worked in nursing in the NHS ever since, frequently supporting older people outside of hospital settings in peripatetic roles. She has previously been a community psychiatric nurse for older adults for the Leeds and York NHS Foundation Trust and senior memory liaison practitioner at the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Claire said: “I’ve always been passionate about dementia care and have worked predominantly with older people living with dementia and their families, travelling around communities to provide care and support.
“Taking on the role of an Admiral Nurse at Belong is therefore a natural progression for me. Belong’s values, particularly making positive outcomes for people the aim of everything they do, are consistent with mine, and I’m looking forward to contributing to advancing the best dementia care in the country.”
Stacey McCann, chief operations officer at Belong, said: “It’s great to have Claire on-board. Having a second Admiral Nurse will allow us to keep improving our dementia services in-line with the latest research and best practice guidelines, as we increase the number of villages we operate. Claire’s background, working in mental health nursing in the NHS, makes her ideal for the role.”
