Nightingale Lodge in Hunstanton, Norfolk has become the third Black Swan Care Group care home to be rated Outstanding by the CQC.

The home, which provided residential care for 26 elderly people at the time of inspection, joined the top 4% of adult social care services.

Home manager, Sandra Rowe, who has been working at the service for over 20 years, said: “The home has progressed ever since I’ve been here.

“There have been lots of changes, and I’ve got an absolutely wonderful team who supports me and the regional manager is wonderful.

“The home has always been Good, ever since I’ve been here, so just to get the Outstanding is amazing!”

The CQC said people living at Nightingale Lodge received “exceptionally kind and compassionate care” with person centred care being the “cornerstone” of the service.

“People’s independence was actively encouraged and promoted by a staff team who sought creative ways to problem solve and find solutions to meet peoples hopes, wishes and preferences,” the CQC said.

Managing Director of Black Swan Care Group, Tom Lyons, said: “This is a fantastic achievement which recognised the passion the team has for delivering personalised care.

“I am incredibly proud of all the team who collectively work together to enhance the lives of those living with us.”

Nightingale Lodge was the first home Black Swan Care Group purchased after it formed the idea of turning around struggling care homes. It was purchased in 1994 before Sandra joined the team in 1998.
