Care businesses see fewer staff ‘no-shows’ after switching to online rotas

Businesses in care have seen a significant reduction in the number of employees not showing up for shifts since switching to online accessible work rotas.
Almost half of the 300 businesses surveyed by online rota management software provider RotaCloud had seen a notable uplift in shift attendance.
The reduction can be alluded to employees no longer being able to claim they don’t know they were meant to be working, as RotaCloud automatically sends updates to staff notifying any shift alterations.
47% of businesses reported seeing less absenteeism since using RotaCloud which eliminates unnecessary shift confirmation checks with managers and colleagues.
James Lintern, co-founder at RotaCloud, said: “Experience of staff being unaware of when they’re supposed to be working is an all too common occurence for any business that relies on staff checking the rota on a piece of paper displayed in a communal area.
“Of course staff not showing up for a shift without warning can happen for any number of reasons. Perhaps they’ve had a last minute family emergency or decided to take a job elsewhere and just haven’t got round to telling you.
“However, our data suggests that more often than not, no-shows occur simply because the employee didn’t know that they were due to work a particular shift.”
RotaCloud’s customer survey data also revealed that giving staff online access to their rotas is helping boost relationships between business managers and their staff for three-quarters of survey respondents.
87% of survey respondents also admitted that the speed and efficiency of managing staff rotas online has also freed up their time, allowing them to focus on other areas of the business.
Firms from the retail and hospitality sector were also included in the survey.
