An inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has assessed Belong Macclesfield in Cheshire, as ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’ across all areas, awarding the village an overall rating of ‘good’.

With ‘good’ ratings in the safe, effective, responsive and well-led categories, it was the care provided at the village that really stood out to CQC inspectors, who awarded it an ‘outstanding’ in the Care category.

The CQC reported that Belong Macclesfield staff were “clearly motivated and compassionate to provide an exceptionally caring service” for customers and residents and were “extremely proud” to work for Belong.

Particular praise was given to Belong Macclesfield’s flexible, person-centred approach to care and the strong relationships evident between staff and the people they support.

The report also noted their commitment to helping residents retain their independence and how customers were “supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives”.

Feedback from customers and family members was included in the report, which praised staff for their ‘caring attitude’, intuition and attention to detail.

It also noted the fundraising efforts which contributed towards specialist interactive equipment for residents living with advanced dementia, used to reduce feelings of anxiety and general frustration.

Caroline Ray, general manager at Belong Macclesfield, said: “We were delighted to read the inspector’s report and its description of the consistently high standards in every aspect of management of the village.

“In particular, it is a testament to our approach to care, where we were rated outstanding, and the tremendous model we have developed for supporting people who live with dementia in Belong villages.”
