Country Court Care home taken out of special measures

Country Court Care’s Lostock Lodge in Northwich, Cheshire has been taken out of special measures by the CQC.

The home, which was rated ‘inadequate’ in April (see Country Court Care home placed in ‘special measures’), was rated ‘requires improvement’ following an inspection in October.

The CQC commented: “Following the last inspection, we asked the provider to complete an action plan to show what they would do and by when to improve the key questions Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led to at least ‘good’.

“The provider sent us an action plan that specified how they would meet the requirements of the identified breaches. During this inspection we found all the required improvements had been made. The service has been removed from special measures.”

The home was rated good for the Effective, Caring and Responsive Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE) but was graded requires improvement for Safe and Well Led.

In the Safe KLOE, the CQC commented that while improvements had been made in the safe management of medicines, sustained improvement was not yet demonstrable.

For the Well Led KLOE, the CQC said that while improvements had been made to governance processes, sustained improvement could not yet be evidenced.

A spokesman for Lostock Lodge said: “Following the publication of our latest CQC report, we are pleased that the progress made at Lostock Lodge Care Home has been recognised and reflected in the positive comments made by the inspectors.

“Ratings cannot move from overall inadequate to overall good in one inspection, but we are now confident that future inspections will rate us good or better in all areas.”
