Colten Care will open the gates to its new residential care home in Poole, Dorset, following positive feedback from local authorities.
The Mayor of Poole and councillor Sean Gabriel, was among the first visitors to enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of Colten Care’s art deco-themed, Bourne View.
Councillor Gabriel said: “We’re lucky to have such a facility here. It’s not just supporting the care of local people – it’s bringing employment opportunities too.”
“One of the biggest issues our nation faces is our ageing population and so we need a portfolio of provision supported by homes such as this. Care workers are not recognised enough for what they do. They are hugely important.”
The home is expected to create up to 120 local jobs and boost community spirit following a partnership with neighbouring special needs facility, Langside School.
With the agreement of Diverse Abilities, Colten staff have painted the school’s frontage, installed new landscaping, railings and flood defences, and contributed to an improved sensory room.
Once Bourne View opens, Langside pupils will be invited to spend time there to use facilities such as the roof garden.
Bourne View also has 68 en suite bedrooms, two guest suites plus a rooftop garden, dining room, bistro, lounges, hair salon and spa.
Mark Aitchison, CEO at Colten Care, said: “Bourne View will help to meet the growing demand for high-quality care provision in Poole, Bournemouth and the wider region. We have designed and built it with learnings from our other 20 homes to date. We strive to be the best and that is also reflected in our highly experienced team who are ready to welcome our new residents.”.
The first residents are due to move into Bourne View on Wednesday, 27 March 2019, ahead of a public open afternoon on Thursday 11 April.
