Healthcare Homes leaders go back to the frontline

Senior executives of the Healthcare Homes Group have gone back to the frontline by taking on residential and domiciliary carer roles for a day.

The exercise was designed to give senior staff first-hand experience of feedback from residents, service users and staff.

CEO Gordon Cochrane said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for the senior leadership team to really get involved in the day-to-day tasks that take place at our homes and homecare branches.  We are always looking to improve the services we offer, as well as receive feedback from our staff and we thought what better way than going back to the floor with staff; this has proved to be an invaluable exercise. Spending a day with our frontline teams has given us a better insight into improvements and adjustments that can be made moving forward.”

Gordon took on maintenance duties at Shipdham Manor residential home in Norfolk, along with HR Director, Sam Dixon, who worked on the service’s laundry and domestic team.

Operational heads Helen Gidlow and Anthony Beorby spent the day at the Watton branch of the group’s Manorcourt Homecare business, where they provided frontline care in people’s homes, while operations director for Manorcourt Homecare, Janice King, undertook housekeeping duties at Fornham House care residence in Suffolk.

A further three members of the management team undertook kitchen duties, supported activities coordinators and did housekeeping tasks at both Ashley Gardens care home in Kent and Fornham House care residence.

Anthony said: “For me, I worked alongside a very experienced home community support worker and my expectations were not only met, but exceeded: the day reinforced to me just how fortunate we are to have such dedicated staff, who are committed to delivering only the highest care and support to our clients in the community. It was a really positive experience.”
