Host companies needed for graduate management programme

Employers are being asked to come forward to host graduates as part of a programme to develop future social care leaders.
Skills for Care’s one year Graduate Management programme will launch in October (see Graduates urged to sign up for Skills for Care management programme).
Skills for Care CEO, Sharon Allen, said: “The sector will be facing many challenges in the coming years, so having an injection of energy, initiative and fresh thinking from this group of graduates can only help us meet them.

“The Graduate Management programme only works if we have hosts who want to pass on their hard won experience to talented and ambitious graduates who we know have the core values needed to support people who access care and support services.”
The programme has been developed in partnership with the NHS Leadership Academy, and supported by the Department for Health and Social Care, to fast track highly motivated graduates towards leadership roles within the sector.
The graduates who achieve two fully-funded qualifications as part of their year, bring new and constructive ideas into their host organisations who say they are innovative, enthusiastic and ambitious and can contribute in many ways.
All the graduates who make the cut for the programme must complete a rigorous values-based selection process and are then carefully matched with host organisations. During their year with the hosts all the graduates contribute to the leadership and management thinking and practice.
Previous graduates have gone on to develop successful careers in the sector with 90% of the most recent graduates staying in social care and health, and three quarters offered employment by their host.
Applications for organisations to host a graduate are open now until Monday 8 April 2019. More information about the programme can be found at www.skillsforcare.org.uk/hostagraduate
