Man charged following sexual assault at Lancashire care home

A man has been charged by police investigating a sexual assault at a care home in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire.
Josh Haworth, 18, of Gisburn Avenue, St Annes, appeared at Blackpool Magistrates Court yesterday after being charged with attempted rape, sexual assault, trespass with intent to rape and criminal damage.
Mr Haworth was arrested after police were called to New Thursby Nursing Home on Clifton Drive before 5am on Sunday, August 4 after a man was found in a room with a resident had been subjected to a sexual assault.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of rape and burglary and was released under investigation pending further enquiries. The 16-year-old was subsequently released without charge.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “The victim and their family are being cared for by professionals and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
“A team of detectives remain committed to the investigation and would urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting log 350 of August 4th.”
New Thursby Nursing Home, which is operated by Century Healthcare, provides nursing care and accommodation for the elderly.
Century Healthcare told CHP it was unable to comment while the police investigation was ongoing.
