Milestone Trust’s Mayo House in Yate, South Gloucestershire has retained its CQC ‘outstanding’ rating.

The learning disability care service remained among the top 3.5% of adult social care services with the CQC’s top rating following an inspection in December 2018.

The CQC said: “The service was highly responsive to people’s individual needs, we found many examples of staff’s approach to providing support in a person-centred way. We heard examples of where staff went above the expectations of their role to ensure that people were well supported.

“There was a strong person-centred culture at the service and people were empowered to achieve their goals. The service was very well- led by managers who valued the staff team and the people being supported. There was a culture of learning from previous experiences.”

The service was highly commended for its effective and caring service. Inspectors reported: “It was clear from our observations that people felt comfortable and settled with staff and that strong positive relationships had been formed. One relative said: ‘Mayo House is an excellent service and all the staff are confident and really understanding.’

“People were able to maintain contact with their friends and families. For one person, staff had supported them to visit family in another country. Given the person’s anxieties and needs, this had been a significant achievement for them.”

John Hoskinson, Milestones Trust CEO, said: “We are very proud of this fantastic achievement at Mayo House – retaining the highest possible CQC rating is testament to the hard work, commitment and professionalism of the team there who ensure they provide the very best care to the people they support.”
