Minister of State for Care Caroline Dinenage

Minster for Care Caroline Dinenage paid tribute to the care home sector’s finest at CHP’s Leaders in Care event yesterday.

The minister was the keynote speaker at the prestigious event held to celebrate the individuals who had been recognised by their peers in CHP’s Leaders of Care.

Ms Dinenage said: “This is a wonderful event. It’s such an honour to be here and help celebrate the success of those being honoured here. Care as a profession is about changing people’s lives. It’s about bringing positivity and about problem solving.

“It’s about making a genuine difference to people’s lives on a day to day basis and that’s why it’s such an honour to be involved in this profession. I would like to thank you all for your contribution to improving the lives of people up and down the country.”

During her speech to the gathering of senior executives and care home managers, the minister said the Government’s forthcoming Green Paper, which is expected later this year, would be “really ambitious”.

Ms Dinenage said the paper would cover embedding safety and quality in the provision of care, NHS and social care integration, and providing a long-term, sustainable funding solution.

“We will look at a broad of principles and to bring forward some reform of this system and ensure that it is fit for the purposes of a future generation,” she added.
