National Care Forum names 2019 Rising Stars

The National Care Forum has announced the successful candidates in this year’s NCF Rising Stars Programme, which helps support the next generation of leaders in social care.

Launched in 2017, the NCF Rising Stars Programme was created to develop leadership skills through mentoring and learning opportunities.

NCF members are invited to nominate managers each year to participate in the programme.

NCF executive director Vic Rayner said: “We have a strong focus on leadership in our NCF strategy and we recognise the need to invest and develop the skills of the next generation of leaders.

“With the help of our partners, this programme enables those shining lights in NCF member organisations to develop a wide variety of skills, varying from managing staff, learning about recruitment and staff retention to media training and harnessing technology. Plus they are mentored by some inspirational industry leaders.”

Commenting on this year’s applicants, Rayner said NCF was “overwhelmed” with the response to the call for nominations for the 2019 NCF Rising Stars Programme.

“All the nominees put forward were strong contenders for the programme and it was difficult to narrow it down to just 11.”

The successful candidates for the 2019 Rising Stars programme are:

Pam Casey, Abbeyfield Society

Charlotte Sehmi, Optalis

Rebecca Ogujor, Salvation Army

Philip Smith, Pilgrims Friends

Adam Roberts, NorseCare

Jo Burnell, Guild Care

Triinu Org, Friends of the Elderly

Sam Pycroft, St Monica Trust

Kelly Hartley, The Fremantle Trust

Nicolas Kee Mew, Avante Care and Support

Faye Upton, Amica Care

“We wish all these participants well on their NCF Rising Stars journey and we are very much looking forward to helping them develop their leadership skills over the coming months,” Vic said.

The NCF Rising Stars Programme will kick off at the NCF Annual Conference in London on June 5, where the NCF Rising Stars attend free of charge with the support of social care consultancy Carterwood.

They will join the NCF team and their mentors at a dedicated lunch in the apetito pop-up ‘Bay Tree’ restaurant.
