NorseCare care home to be converted into specialist dementia care service

A NorseCare care home that was facing closure is to be saved by being converted into a specialist dementia care service.

Burman House in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, was facing closure following the launch of a public consultation on its future (see NorseCare begins consultation on care home closure).

Karen Knight, Managing Director of NorseCare, said: “There is a clear need for more dementia provision in the west of the county and I see a repurposed Burman House being an important part of meeting that need.”

Under plans developed by NorseCare and Norfolk County Council, Burman House, which currently provides residential care for 32 people, will be converted into a specialist dementia care service catering for 30 people.

The transition, which will begin as soon as possible, will mean the ceasing of residential care at the service.

Existing residents will be given the option of staying at the service or finding alternative accommodation following transition.
