Plymouth care home named best in Devon and Cornwall

Plymouth care home The Kanner Project has been awarded the Care Home of the Year award at the Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall.

The home, operated by Modus Care, provides specialist residential care for up to five residents with complex needs, including those with autistic spectrum disorder, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.

The awards, run by the Care Network Group, celebrate the most dedicated individuals, providers and suppliers in the care industry across the region.

The coveted Care Home of the Year award is presented to a care home which is able to demonstrate a shared vision and agreed goals, the leader of which is known and accepted, and who takes personal responsibility for their tasks.

Vic Brelsford-Ward, manager of the Kanner Project, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It’s a real testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff, I’m extremely proud of them all.”

Keith Letchford, the Kanner Project’s support worker also picked up a Silver award for his role as support worker of the year.

On receiving is award, Letchford commented: “I am really happy and surprised to be nominated and receive the silver award.”
