Somerset Care interim CEO gets permanent top spot

Gary Ridewood has been named the new CEO of Somerset Care Group after serving as interim.
Confirming his appointment, the care provider said Ridewood has delivered against “a number of challenging issues” and provided “strong leadership” since taking the reins of the company in November.
Gary joined Somerset Care Group in September 2017 as chief financial officer, bringing with him experience in a range of commercial sectors, including wholesale, retail, financial services, recruitment and manufacturing. He has also managed investor relations, due diligence, acquisitions and the integration of acquired businesses.
Acknowledging the contribution that Ridewood has made to date, Somerset Care Group chairman Angela Dupont, said: “Gary’s commercial experience, insight and expertise, coupled with his drive and passion for social care, will prove to be invaluable in driving the Group forward. I and the Board look forward to working with him and I feel confident that the care sector and all its stakeholders will benefit significantly.”
Gary said he was proud to have been charged with the role of leading Somerset Care forward and relishes the challenge ahead.
“Firstly, I am grateful and honoured that the Board has presented me with this opportunity, leading the new five year plan gives us the opportunity to influence the lives of so many and support people to live the life they choose,” he added.
Somerset Care operates 27 care homes in Somerset and the Isle of Wight.
