Supplier supports care homes to comply with new equipment guidelines

Bathroom specialist Closomat has developed a package to help healthcare operators comply with new guidance on equipment provision in care homes.

New recommendations set out by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) states that care homes are expected to have standard equipment that would be widely available to end-users in their own homes.

Such equipment will be – among other criteria – used by more than one person, be used frequently, assist activities of daily living and enable independence and support a safe environment for users.

The guidance states that moving and handling equipment should be subjected to routine maintenance and servicing and regularly inspected by a competent person.

Closomat said the equipment it supplies is now support by its in-house project management. This includes site survey, supply, installation, commissioning and training for staff and users.

Subsequent care is provided via the company’s service and maintenance offering. This aims to ensure regular routine servicing and maintenance of all equipment.

Service contracts are managed by Closomat so that care home managers do not have to spend time on annual checks.
