Turnaround specialist transforms previously ‘inadequate’ care home

Stow Healthcare is celebrating the turnaround of an Essex care home in just 12 months.

Previously ‘inadequate’ rated Halstead Hall has received a ‘good’ CQC rating after being taken over by the provider 12 months ago.

Home Manager Heather Choat said: “I am absolutely over the moon with the report. It is a great result for the team here and reflects the hard work that every single person has put in over the last year.

“The home has come on in leaps and bounds and goes from strength to strength every day. I am so proud with what we have achieved here at Halstead Hall!”

The CQC removed the registration of Halstead Hall’s previous provider after finding it ‘inadequate’ in the safe and well led KLOEs.

Following an inspection in December, the CQC found “significant change” had taken place under the home’s new ownership.

Operations Director Ruth French said: “This is an outstanding result for Halstead Hall. I’m not sure that any of us would have believed this was achievable 12 months ago but it is testament to the amazing work ethic and caring nature of our staff and excellent management team to have achieved this in such a short space of time.”

Stow Healthcare specialises in taking on previously troubled homes and turning them around. Two of the provider’s homes are currently rated ‘outstanding’.
